A few years ago, we had the great opportunity of celebrating a milestone anniversary for a company headquartered here in Louisville, DD Williamson. The company who has been the go-to source for color solutions in the food and beverage industry turned 150 (!!) and it was only fitting to create the most colorful event ever. Scroll on to see how we pulled it off.
The event was held at the Muhammad Ali Center, where drinks were served at a cocktail hour downstairs before moving upstairs for dinner. Guests were pleasantly surprised when they walked into a sea of colored pencils.
Creating an event for one of the most color-oriented companies in the world called for one thing: color. How did we achieve that? With over 80,000 colored pencils. We used the school supplies for waves, centerpieces, place cards… you name it, we incorporated them. After the event, the colored pencils we donated to JCPS so they wouldn’t go to waste.
To complement the pencil waves, we added fun name cards to the place settings. Each guest was greeted at their seat with a personalized sticky notepad and—you guessed it—a few pencils to prop them up. How fun?!
The celebrating didn’t stop at post-its and pencils. When a company turns 150, an epic birthday cake is in order. We opted for a 3-tiered bright white cake, complete with paint drips and the science behind making the perfect color.
To showcase how far DD Williamson has come, we added a colorful timeline to the space. Sharing how much the company has accomplished in 150 years was nothing short of impressive.
Between the color, the history, and the people behind the company, DD Williamson’s 150th Anniversary was an event that we won’t forget. Need help planning your anniversary party? Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll start creating!
